…The Health care debate is taking shape on capital hill, and in the capitals of every state in the union, and in the households of every American.  But it is more than just another piece of pending legislation-or another policy debate between differing ideological camps- it is a discussion about our moral obligation.

Obama Calls Health Plan a ‘Moral Obligation’

President Obama sought Wednesday to reframe the health care debate as “a core ethical and moral obligation,” imploring a coalition of religious leaders to help promote the plan to lower costs and expand insurance coverage for all Americans.

If President Obama had called for this approach back in July, health care reform would have been in much better shape.  Determining a clear focus and selling point is vital to selling this legislation.  So far, the administration’s efforts have been too scatter-shot and not targeted enough.  If this country prides itself on being the “moral authority” in the world, then is it not our duty to protect and provide for our own citizens in times of destitution and illness?
