Release the Loons!

June 11, 2009

I’m used to reading what certain wackjobs write in their columns and posts, and listening to them rant and rave with open, frothing mouths on the airwaves.  In today’s climate of political egotism, the brand that seems to sell the most is agenda-driven polemicism.

Yesterday, we had the re-emergence of the one and only Reverend Jeremiah Wright Sr., former pastor of President Barack Obama.  Did the good Reverend expound on the President’s speech to the Muslim world in Cairo last week?  Nope.  Was he compelled to weigh in on the much debated topic of health care reform? No boys and girls, this is what the good Reverend had to say as reported by the Daily Press in Virginia:

Them Jews ain’t going to let him talk to me …. He’s got to do what politicians do. And the Jewish vote, the AIPAC vote that’s controlling him, that will not let him send representation to the Darfur Review Conference, that’s talking this craziness on Israel because they’re Zionists, they will not let him talk to somebody who calls a spade what it is. Ethnic cleansing is going on in Gaza—the ethnic cleansing of the Zionists is a sin and a crime against humanity….

And, just in case you don’t believe me, here’s the ridiculous audio:

I’d say it was shocking,  if I actually thought it was.  The inconsiderate bastard had terrific timing too.  In a climate where some folks are trying to gin up tensions between the Jewish community and the administration, this interview took place underneath the backdrop of the Holocaust Museum shooting.  TRIPLE PLAY!

The loons are everywhere folks.  He’s just one of many.
